Vacancy: Supervisory Board member (financial profile)

The Nieuw Amsterdams Verbond connects people and resources around social issues in Amsterdam and operates in the fields of health, education, equity and livelihood security. We work from the demand and need of social initiatives and on the basis of equality. NAV is a young association under construction, with big ambitions and a strong social mission. 

The Supervisory Board (BoS) provides integral supervision of the management, acts as a sounding board and employer of the managing director, and monitors the achievement of the social objectives, financial continuity and compliance with laws and regulations. 

As an SB member with financial profile: 

• Oversee the financial policies, budget, multi-year estimates and financial continuity of NAV 
• Monitor the set-up and functioning of financial administration, internal control and audit 
• Be a sparring partner for the chief executive officer on financial-economic issues 
• Do you have specific focus on:
  - revenue mix (memberships, contributions, funds, donations)
  - ANBI requirements and transparency
  - governance, compliance and integrity
  - growth from a small organisation to a professional structure 
• Can take a leadership role within an audit or finance committee (light and appropriate to the scale of the organisation). 

• You have extensive experience in finance, e.g. as CFO, finance director, controller, partner or supervisor
• You feel at home in a social or public-private context 
• You combine financial acumen with a sense of social impact 
• You are independent, committed and constructively critical 
• You have an affinity with Amsterdam and its social issues. 

• A substantively meaningful supervisory role with a young, ambitious organisation 
• The opportunity to contribute to structural social impact in the city 
• Cooperation with a diverse and enthusiastic Supervisory Board 
• A position on an unpaid basis. Expenses will be reimbursed.
