Child poverty out of the city!
In Amsterdam, over 30,000 children grow up in poverty. Poverty has far-reaching consequences for families, and children in particular. Children growing up in poverty are hindered in their development in all areas of life; growing up in a family with financial problems can lead to social exclusion, fewer opportunities for educational success and an increased risk of health problems. Parents struggling with financial problems often experience chronic stress, which affects their mental health and family life. This creates a vicious cycle where poverty is passed on from generation to generation.
