Yesterday, we gathered with our members to reflect together on an important question: how do we ensure that the commitment of company employees to social initiatives actually makes a difference?
Volunteer hours are an important means of making the connection between businesses and civil society organisations concrete. Yet practice is often recalcitrant: what seems like a good idea on paper sometimes turns out to be difficult to sustain or does not always deliver the desired impact. During the meeting, we therefore talked to each other in small groups on the basis of practical experiences that made it clear where things go well and where they sometimes friction.
The talks provided valuable insights. How can companies best engage their employees in social initiatives? What preconditions are needed to make the commitment sustainable and effective? And what can NAV mean in this regard, so that the use of volunteer hours is workable and valuable for all members?
