Last Monday, the official launch took place at the official residence of Mayor Femke Halsema, in the presence of our first members. A special moment when involved Amsterdammers, social initiatives, companies, funds and the municipality came together to give the starting shot for a powerful network that works together on the themes of health, education, equality of opportunity, subsistence security.
Mayor Halsema opened the meeting with a warm welcome to all attendees. She underlined the importance of cooperation in a city that is constantly changing, and how the Nieuw Amsterdams Verbond will play a connecting role in it.
In her speech, Quartermaster Nina Tellegen reflected on the creation of the Nieuw Amsterdams Verbond and stressed the value of joining forces just now.
The afternoon was all about meeting, inspiration and togetherness. While enjoying snacks and drinks, fine conversations took place between members and partners. Allies told about their motivation to join the Alliance and what drives them to work together for a more liveable city. Social initiatives presented themselves to the other members and told about their contribution to our shared mission.
The launch marks the beginning of a movement in which together we seek sustainable solutions to societal challenges. The Nieuw Amsterdams Verbond connects people, shares knowledge and experience, and builds new insights and actions that move Amsterdam forward.
